Jakarta - The Packaging and Recycling Association for the Indonesian Sustainable Environment (PRAISE), in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime and Investment Coordinator (Kemenko Marves); supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and Human Initiatives (HI) in the Clean Indonesia Movement, have distributed aid to the community, to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The first distribution took place at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry of Marves in Central Jakarta, Wednesday, 29/04/2020.
Packaging and Recycling Association for Indonesia Sustainable Environment (PRAISE) which consists of six companies, namely Coca-Cola, Danone, Indofood, Nestle, Tetra Pak and Unilever has a commitment to encourage the creation of holistic, integrated and sustainable packaging waste in Indonesia. PRAISE's commitment is manifested in several programs, one of which is the Clean Indonesia Movement (GIB).
The global spread of the covid-19 pandemic, necessitates the urgency to break its spread in Indonesia by adopting clean and healthy living behaviours; by practicing social distancing and other measurement steps; as recommended by the Indonesian Ministry of Health. In support, PRAISE together with Kemenko Marves, KLHK and HI, distributed a number of aid in 10 locations in Jakarta. Assistance were provided in the supply of nutritious food and beverage products, hand sanitizers, hygiene kits, and portable hand washing equipment. At the initial stage, assistance will be implemented across 5 areas, namely Kampung Bali Village, Tanah Abang, Batu Ampar Village, Condet, Kramat Jati Village, Cawang Village and Jatinegara Village.
PRAISE Chairperson, Karyanto Wibowo said, "We recognize the importance of all parties to participate and collaborate in suppressing the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia. Preventive measures are needed to break the chain of distribution of Covid-19, one of which is by washing hands with soap. We collaborate with Kemenko Marves to provide hand washing facilities in several public places in the DKI Jakarta area. In addition, we also distribute nutritious food and beverage products and other household needs as a form of PRAISE concern for the people affected by this pandemic."
Indofood as the co-founder of PRAISE voiced the same message, as stated by Stefanus Indrayana, Indofood's Head of Corporate Communications, "We welcome this collaboration. For Indofood, the role of every element of society is very important in order to accelerate the response of the Covid-19 pandemic. With this assistance, we invite the community to always maintain cleanliness, diligently wash their hands and continue to maintain with nutritious foods and drinks every day. This assistance is a form of PRAISE concern for the community. Hopefully this assistance will be useful and the pandemic will end soon."
The symbolic handover ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the Marves Ministry of Justice, Agung Kuswandono accompanied by Acting. Deputy for the Coordination of Environmental and Forestry Management, Dr. Ir. Nani Hendiarti, M.Sc., PRAISE, HI and representatives from five villages receiving aid.
